The Residenz Salzburg in the heart of the old town was the seat of the prince archbishops and served them over the centuries as a city residence and representative office. Today, the 15 magnificent state rooms at Residenzplatz 1 invite you on a journey through 200 years of stylistic history, from the Renaissance to Baroque and Classicism. The halls are among the most sought-after venues in Salzburg's old town.
Behind the façade of the Salzburg Residenz is a bishop's palace that has grown over the centuries and owes its present appearance to Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau (1559 - 1617). The first documented mention of the residence dates back to 1232. The ecclesiastical and secular rulers of Salzburg furnished themselves sumptuously, even lavishly, and thus demonstrated their power: classical tiled stoves, Venetian mirrors, ceiling frescoes by Johann Michael Rottmayr, Bohemian smoked-glass crystal chandeliers, High Baroque ceiling stuccoes with gold leaf, clocks and valuable paintings give an impression of the life of the archbishops in Salzburg. The flood of rooms reflects the expense of an audience with the archbishop and the great role of hierarchy, power and arbitrariness.

Forecast
Areas of low pressure keep passing over Central Europe from the northwest. Between these lows, there is only little space for ridges of high pressure. Thanks to just such a ridge of high pressure, our weather will temporarily calm down on Saturday. The morning will be very cloudy with a few snow flakes falling, but by the afternoon, the sky will brighten up. However cloudy patches will remain.
