The largest lake in the Schladminger Tauern is located near the head of the valley in the Kleinsölker Upper Valley at 1,150 m above sea level.
The "Schwarzensee" water show trail provides insight into the diverse habitats and exciting behaviours that are in close contact with the life-giving water. Various animal and plant species feel at home at fens, mountain streams and still waters. Among them lives an inconspicuous but fascinating plant: the carnivorous sundew. A special rarity is the spruce condensation water bog. In the summer months, such cold temperatures escape from between the coarse blocks that icicles form at the exit holes.
