The museum in the Fronfeste in Neumarkt am Wallersee is located in the former prison house from 1589.
Here, young and old can learn interesting facts about the history of Neumarkt and the surrounding region.
Special attention is paid to the topics of the judiciary and criminal history, excavations from the Roman period and from the life of the Romans, leather workshops and hat making.
Marvel at the original prison cells, the traditional exhibits from the tannery trade and learn interesting facts about leather production.
Hat making was once an important craft in Neumarkt, and in the museum's hat exhibition you can try on the many hats. The Roman exhibition shows visitors everything about Roman life - from clothing and games to archaeology and Roman recipes. Children and young people can get active, discover new things and try them out in the interesting museum educational offers.
